Events and Conditional Factors Analysis (ECFA+) is a method for creating concise descriptions of incidents. Investigators use ECFA+ to help them organise facts about what happened and to spot gaps in their data.
Events and Conditional Factors Analysis - ECFA+
The 2014 ECFA+ manual is available for download.
The manual is published to:
- help investigators produce accounts of incidents that are robust with regard to evidence and completeness;
- encourage stakeholders to share information about incidents;
- provide a reference point for practitioners, tool developers, researchers and students.
The manual is written for line managers and supervisors as well as specialists. The paper "Investigation tools in context" describes where ECFA+ fits in to the "investigator's toolbox".
ECFA+ uses sticky notes but these can be drawn-up with Microsoft Visio. A Visio template is available and will be updated soon.
The previous (2007) version of manual remain available (English or Dutch).
